History

Sea Crest School was founded in 1996 by Bob and Joni Williamson, Rick and Diane Mazer, and Ginger Girvin.

The Williamsons and Mazers were looking for an alternative to the local public schools, one with a focus on individualized instruction and small class size. Ginger Girvin, a well-known educator on the coastside, was tutoring their children at the time. They combined efforts to open the school in September of 1996. Total enrollment in the first year was 26 students, Kindergarten through 5th grade. In 1996, Bob Williamson built the original 5,000 square foot facility on one acre at 700 Monte Vista Avenue in Half Moon Bay.

In January 2001, Sea Crest moved to its current site at 901 Arnold Way. The 3.9 acre campus includes a 15,000 square foot educational facility, and a 15,000 square foot performing arts and sports facility.

Now in its twelvth year, Sea Crest enrolls 250+ students in Kindergarten through eighth grade, and employs more than 35 teachers and staff members. The student-teacher ratio is 10:1, with an average class size of fewer than 16 students.
